BLOODSHOT BILL AND THE HUBCAPS Bloodshot Bill and the Hubcaps not only pick up the torch of early essential rock n’ roll, classic rockabilly and psycho-garage, they light themselves on fire with it! They hit the stage with an onslaught of greasy guitar riffs, leering vocals, a battery of heavy-duty drums and eye-poppin go-go shakin. This fast paced, Montreal, rock n’ roll trio showcase their dirty attitude and mean guitar rock, putting on a show with edge-of-your-seat stage presence that’ll make you wanna get up and stomp to the rock n’ roll, punkabilly sound. Reminiscent of the sounds that gave birth to the leaner, meaner side of rock n’ roll, Bloodshot Bill and the Hubcap’s edgy, high-octane stage show has quickly become a mainstay of the music scene across Quebec and Ontario and left fans in the U.S. wanting more. After tantalizing listeners with several homespun recordings, they have now released a much-anticipated professional recording entitled ‘your title here’. The group has been featured at events such as the Pop Montreal 2002 festival, Kansas City’s Greaserama and the Fluff Girl Burlesque Revue (co-hosts) as well as hosting their own events such as Bloodstock and the Bloodshot BBQs. They have also been a favourite to share the stage with, for acts such as The Sadies (including New Years Eve), Bob Log III, Tav Falco, El Vez, Danko Jones, The Black Halos, The Crazy Rhythm Daddies, The Knoxville Girls, The Silver Hearts , Cooper Thompson, Ray Condo, The Woggles, The Spitfires and Schlonk. The trash was piled high on the corner of mount-royal and St-laurent, scraps of street sale left for the picking. But inside, at Jailhouse, it was so stacked, it nearly toppled over. Hanging out on the terrasse too long meant seeing it more than hearing it, but Bloodshot Bill dragged most of us junk-rock suckers to the stage, where Dom Castelli and Bloodshot Bill banged drum and guitar like they wanted them dead. HOUR Bloodstock has more to do with the garage rock and psyched-out rockabilly of the late ’50s and early ’60s than it does with painted schoolbusses and Captain Trips. This one-night festival is going to be greased down and ripping it up with a roster of Montreal bands who know what rock ’n’ roll is really all about… Will Bill be accompanied by the trashy beats of one Domenic Castelli? Doing his one man band? Discarding clothing to adoring fans? Imitating the sounds of barnyard animals to the delight of frothy, frenzied masses? Montreal Mirror, May 2002 The show [The Sadies] was opened with a bang by local musician Bloodshot Bill… the boot-stomping rockabilly punk… got everybody hootin’ and hollerin.
If you walk down any street in Montreal chances are that you'll run into a flyer tacked onto a telephone pole advertising one of Bill's wild engagements. In fact, these flyers would only be about half the story as Bill plays more shows than he has time to even advertise for. With Bill having stomped many a floorboard in Ontario and Quebec with his solo one-man band, The Guilloteens or with his group The Hubcaps (also featuring local promoter legend Dom Castelli on drums and Kit Kat, their resident singer and dancer) you can guess he's got some good stories. It seems that Bloodshot Bill's one-man band take on the psychobilly slant was taken right from the mantel of american veteran Hasil … Montreal Night Life, February 2003
Expect Mr. Bill’s usual brand of frothy rockabilly madness… Oh yeah. As for the Bloodshot and Hubcaps – who’ve recently added a lady named Katie to the act – they’re finally recording an album next month, after supporting The Sadies at the Horseshoe in Toronto on New Year’s Eve, so do yourself a favour, good people.
